Za Zú Restaurant & Club has transformed into a narrative of the combination between quality food, entertainment, and a bohemian lifestyle. Anticipating the summer, the new Za Zú brings back all the warming emotions of its summer prototype with a new restaurant in the heart of the capital. Za Zú is located in one of the iconic buildings of old Sofia, originally designed as a bank but later used as a military printing house.
The design of the new Za Zú Restaurant & Club in Sofia is a continuation of the successful concept of Za Zú in Sunny Beach. Natural materials such as bouclé, wood, brass, marble, and microcement form the basis of this Wabi-Sabi adventure. Softening the overall vision is achieved through both the materials used and a clean geometric approach, shaping compositions of arches built from wood or microcement. Sofas and chairs have streamlined forms to maximize comfort.
Za Zú is divided into zones with the option for low, high, or medium seating, creating opportunities for both a comfortable dinner and entertainment near the DJ booth. Some bouclé sofas are elevated on a podium, forming the VIP area where the largest tables and sofas are situated. The height in this area is artificially lowered to achieve maximum coziness.
Lighting is one of the highlights in the design of Za Zú . On one hand, the intensity of the architectural lighting is adjustable to emphasize the characteristic elements of the interior. On the other hand, decorative lighting, with hanging lamps made of microcement and a composition of linear lighting from brass cylindrical LED elements, creates a radically different scene and atmosphere. Additionally, as good food is only part of the entertainment, the festivities continue into the evening. Then, the restaurant’s appearance transforms with the dramatic lighting and music, without depriving the visitor of the distinctive elements of the interior.
A key role in the interior of Za Zú is played by a handmade plaster composition of Neptune. And when gods are present, we can only settle for the best.
